Research Engineer


About the job

Colfax International seeks a Research Engineer to conduct supervised research and produce technical materials in high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI). Specific job duties include:

  • Developing computational software implementing operations used in HPC and AI
  • Assessing and optimizing the performance of own and others’ software on a variety of computing platforms
  • Writing instructions and tutorials for best practices in the field of expertise
  • Evaluating emerging software frameworks for HPC and AI
  • Experimenting with new computing platforms, including processors, interconnects, and accelerators
  • Continually engaging in self-education, specialized training, and participating in professional conferences and trade shows

Minimum requirements

  • Master of Science degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related computational discipline and 3 months experience

Specific skills required

  • C, C++, Fortran, or Python
  • Parallel programming models and frameworks (OpenMP, MPI, or similar)
  • Familiar with computer micro-architecture, parallel computing systems, computer networks, embedded systems, and cloud computing
  • Software development for object detection, image classification, programming smartphones, interfacing with electronic sensors, or processing audio or video data

Travel

  • Up to 10 days of travel per year, to conferences, workshops, and trade shows within the U.S
