Summary
Colfax International is looking for a results-oriented senior computing solution specialist with solid
knowledge of high-performance computing systems. The Computing Solution
Configuration Specialist will assist our R&D and production teams with the
configuration, optimization and support of computing servers and clusters,
accelerators, network interconnects, storage solutions, and on-premise cloud infrastructure.
About the Job
As a Computing Solution Configuration Specialist, you will configure, for research and production purposes, servers with GPUs and other accelerators;
set up high-performance network interconnects (InfiniBand, Ethernet); create complex storage devices from SSD, NVMe and other media; troubleshoot
issues related to hardware malfunctions and software conflicts; keep up to date BIOS and firmware images; research answers to end-user and
production team questions in manuals and hardware vendors’ support channels; and help to make decisions about complex computing system
configurations. The job is a senior position and will require a persistence mindset in looking for answers. You will be responsible for
documenting best-known practices and contributing to the company’s knowledge base.
Ideally, our new hire would hit the ground running with the existing work and
bring in knowledge and skills that we don’t yet have. However, a strong partial skill set, combined with capabilities in other positions that we are
advertising, is also a good fit for the team that we are building.
Key Qualifications
Education
- B.S. or a similar degree in an IT-related field.
Experience
- 5 years or more. We would like you to have enough skills to be productive from day 1. At the same time, you will be dealing with tasks
never done before, so expect to learn new skills on the job.
Skills
- Practical knowledge of modern computer architecture
- Expertise with GPU-accelerated systems, including hardware compatibility, software configuration, and drivers
- InfiniBand networking setup and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with modern and legacy components and platforms
- Troubleshooting hardware issues in high-performance computers
- Resolving software-related problems (drivers, tool stacks, OS)
- Ability to work with multiple variants of Linux and Windows OSs
- Efficiency at working in a Linux console
- Experience with BIOS and firmware updates
- Communication with vendors for troubleshooting
- Understanding of manuals and data sheets
- Comfort with customer support interactions
- Safe mechanical practices (server racking, component replacement)
- Good spoken and written English
Salary & Benefits
- The base salary range for this role is between $100,000 and $175,000, and your base salary will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience.
- Paid time off: 120 hrs/year (160 hrs/year after 5 years)

Research Engineer for Computing Solutions

Summary
Colfax International is looking for a perpetual learner skilled in high-performance, scientific, and special-purpose computing with a focus
on performance evaluation. The Research Engineer for Computing Solutions will conduct pathfinding studies for system configuration and performance
optimization; measure and validate performance metrics; develop best practices for the configuration and usage of new and emerging computing
solutions; and communicate their results to technical audiences through written materials, presentations, and recordings.
About the Job
As a Research Engineer for Computing Solutions, you will design and conduct performance studies using industry-standard and custom benchmark
applications on the newest servers, computing accelerators, networks, storage devices, and high-performance computing clusters. The target of
your research projects will come from customers as well as from your assessment of the landscape of the market’s leading computing solutions.
You will be responsible for: discovering and implementing systemlevel and application-level tuning methods for optimum performance; designing
and scripting the testing methodology; developing data collection and analysis scripts; researching programming methodologies and best known
methods for developers; documenting your findings; and communicating the results of your research. Your work will be reviewed by internal and
corporate partners’ experts. The output of your activities will include white papers, online and journal publications, tutorials, business
presentations and webinars, and teaching materials for industry professionals.

Key Qualifications
Education
- M.S. or a similar degree in computer science or a quantitative natural sciences discipline (e.g., applied mathematics, physics, engineering,
computational biology, etc.). A Ph.D. degree and a history of scientific and general audience publications is not necessary but will be
weighed positively in the evaluation of candidates.
Experience
- 5 years or more of professional or post-doctoral research work.
Skills
- Parallel programming (OpenMP, MPI, Cuda, and similar tools)
- GPU programming, libraries, and performance optimization
- Usage and performance optimization in high-speed networks (InfiniBand)
- Expertise with Linux for software development
- Deep knowledge of modern computing platforms
- Familiarity with industry-standard performance benchmarking tools and methods
- Analytical writing proficiency (statistical analysis of results, graphical data representation, critical analysis, engaging and concise communication)
- Excellent spoken and written English
